Coming back to the pot for an urban apartment setup

From our experiments with different materials for the pot with the aim of drawing water against the gravity did not work i.e. of having a water container at the base of the pot and having some sort material which would pull water from it and wet the soil surrounding it. This proved completely ineffective as Sudipto came by and told us that having a hole at the bottom so that there is constant flow of water from the pot to the outside: a form of excretion for plants is a must. This may be because of the quantity or the type of the soil. Second: the material which worked effectively was clay.
From the setup we have made for the urban setup, we gathered that the drip mechanism works best for wetting the soil. Hence we have combining both our successes and are going ahead with making a clay pot based on the principle of drip mechanism. One pot is :a pot within a pot, having the bottom of it unlined so that it is open for excretion. The other will be a shape which is similar to how a pot looks when it is fitted with a bottle near its circumference.
Today, we are going to some potters to get these pots made. Hope it works!
